SEO
SEO judged on enquiries, with someone accountable for the number
Short answer
SEO is the work of making your website the most obvious answer to what your customers are searching. At Digital Burst that means technical fixes, pages built around real buying intent, and content that earns citations. Engagements are quoted on scope and the outcome we agree to be accountable for, never on hours logged, and every report is measured in enquiries rather than rankings.
The approach
Why we do it this way
Most agencies will sell you rankings. Rankings are easy to screenshot and easy to game — you can rank first for a phrase nobody types and still have an empty inbox.
We start from the other end. We work out which searches actually end in someone calling a business like yours, then we build the pages, the technical foundations and the authority to win those searches. If a keyword can't be traced back to a plausible enquiry, we don't chase it.
That approach works particularly well for small and mid-sized Australian businesses, because it means your budget goes into a short list of pages that can move the needle rather than a sprawling content programme you'll never recoup.

Process
How an SEO engagement actually runs
This is a sequence, not a menu — each step depends on the one before it.
Commercial mapping
Before we touch the site we work out what a customer is worth to you and which searches lead to those customers. This is the step most agencies skip, and it's the one that decides whether the whole programme pays for itself.
Technical audit
Crawl, index and Core Web Vitals review. We find the pages Google can't reach, the ones it's ignoring, and the speed problems costing you mobile visitors.
Architecture & keyword mapping
One page per intent, organised into topic clusters so authority compounds instead of competing with itself.
On-page and schema build
Titles, headings, internal links and structured data rewritten page by page — including the entity markup that AI answer engines rely on.
Content production
Answer-first pages written by people who understand your trade, published on a schedule you can see.
Authority building
Digital PR, genuine local citations and partnerships. No link farms, no private blog networks, nothing that puts your domain at risk.
Measure and iterate
Monthly reporting tied to enquiries and calls. What worked gets more budget; what didn't gets cut.

Answers
SEO questions, answered properly
How long does SEO take to work?
Most Australian small businesses see meaningful movement in months three to five, and a compounding return from month six. Technical fixes and Google Business Profile work can move local rankings inside a few weeks; competitive national terms take longer. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is either targeting worthless keywords or planning to do something that gets you penalised.
Do you guarantee first-page rankings?
No, and you should be sceptical of anyone who does — Google's own guidelines warn against it. What we do commit to is telling you honestly, before you spend anything, whether we think we can grow your enquiries. If we don't think we can, we say so.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. Our SEO plans run month to month. We'd rather keep clients because the numbers justify it than because a contract does.
Who actually does the work?
A Sydney-based team. Your account manager is a person you can call, not a ticketing system, and the strategist who scopes your plan is the one who runs it.
Is SEO still worth it now that people use AI assistants?
Yes — and it matters more, not less. Assistants like ChatGPT and Gemini build their answers from indexed web content, so the same foundations that win rankings also decide whether you get named in an AI answer. The difference is that the content has to be structured to be quoted, which is what our AI visibility work covers.
What happens if I want to leave?
You keep everything. The Google accounts are in your name, the content is yours, and we hand over documentation. No hostage-taking.
